During an October 2025 interview on the podcast Good Guys, John Stamos gave a heated response to hosts who asked if he would leave his wife, Caitlin McHugh, for his Full House co-star Lori Loughlin. The hosts brought up the question after Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, recently separated.
Stamos's fiery reaction
"No fing way!"*: When a host rephrased a fan question about whether he would "leave your wife for her," Stamos immediately shut down the idea.
A "threesome?": The actor first reacted to the fan suggestion that he should "bring her into the fold" with a shocked joke, showing his incredulity at the line of questioning.
"I'm not Mormon": He then added this quip, alluding to the idea of not having multiple wives or an open marriage.
In defense of his wife: He further defended his relationship with Caitlin, whom he has been married to since 2018. During the podcast, he mentioned her positively while also slamming Giannulli.
Stamos's support for Lori Loughlin
Despite his strong rejection of romantic involvement, Stamos offered a passionate defense of his co-star and long-time friend.
He said he was "heartbroken" for Loughlin, who was "just devastated" by her recent separation.
He attacked Giannulli, calling him a "terrible narcissist" and "a**hole".
He blamed Giannulli for the 2019 college admissions scandal, stating that Loughlin "didn't deserve to be dragged through that" and that "she goes to f*ing prison for this ahole".
Stamos stated that he will "never talk to him again" and accused Giannulli of bringing turmoil into Loughlin's family.
Background on Stamos and Loughlin's relationship
Stamos and Loughlin have been lifelong friends since working on Full House.
Stamos has openly acknowledged their closeness in the past, including in his memoir, If You Would Have Told Me.
He confirmed that they had a brief "window" of time when they were both single but that Loughlin was "too nice" for him at that point in his life.
Stamos also noted that he and Caitlin have been a source of support for Loughlin since her split, with Loughlin visiting their family home.
